Choose your destiny

CourseTec is an ed-tech platform. The website aims to reach tech lovers from different backgrounds and all works of life through its personalized and supportive class structure, this way students are encouraged to learn at optimal pace. The goal is freedom for tech lovers to follow their dreams, reach for the stars and launch tech career.

My role

I worked on the project as a UI/UX designer, guided by my teacher/mentor.

Challenge accepted

Online learning platforms in tech have a high drop out rate, and from research, students learn in many interesting ways. Students require a personalized, supportive and fun learning environment.

The solution

Develop a one-page website that sells itself. The focus is simple, to enlighten audience about the ed-tech platform and download the application.

From research, a user focused and customizable platform, results in higher retention rates. Users wanted learn at their own pace, in a supportive environment. A prototype app was designed and showcased on the website, raising interest in the value proposition.

Design decisions

The name originated on a play of memorable words that could easily tell audience what the platform was all about, tech courses.

The logo is a C highlighted in Grey, signifies growth, industry and graduation, in an open, flexible and nurturing environment. The main color, blue, conveys trust, information and tech. Opted for a clean, classic font - Futura.

The design style was minimal, used repetition to highlight key point (launch tech career). The general layout concept is the idea of a scroll. It feels like school or graduation day. The shape is an excerpt from the overall shape of ā€˜Cā€™ in logo.

Intrigue is added at the section of color theory and how newly acquired knowledge can be put into practice immediately, hence adding value.

The homepage feels like a globe, like you are launching out into space. Another view is a satellite dish which flows with the launch theme.

The process

Design thinking process was emphasized through out the project. Thorough research carried out among 20 participants (tech students). 67% of participants had three similar challenges with current platforms and improvements they would appreciate; personalization, community support and fun learning.
